Katriny TAN
Hello! I’m Katriny, a first-year student, majoring in quantitative finance. I am from Malaysia, but I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and I spent six formative years studying in a Japanese school. This diverse experience has fostered my interest in connecting with new people and exploring new cultures.
In high school, I was a sports enthusiast, dedicating most of my time to competitive swimming. I’ve been swimming since the age of four and look forward to continuing this passion at HKUST. I also played badminton competitively and am eager to meet fellow players for some friendly matches or competitions. Additionally, I love outdoor activities, particularly hiking, which developed during my journey with the HKAYP Gold program. However, nowadays, I spend most of my free time studying or immersing myself in the lively nightlife of Hong Kong.
As a Spark Global Leader in 25-26, I’m excited to connect with individuals from various backgrounds and cultures. In my role, I aim to organize thrilling social events that not only bring joy to students but also foster connections between students, helping to build a more vibrant, diverse international community at HKUST!
