Orientation (Fall 2024)
Office of Global Learning hosts a range of activities for the exchange students. They range from the welcome events happening in HKUST to touring in Hong Kong to experience the vibrant life of this amazing city.
ORIENTATION ACTIVITIES
To make your exchange life in HKUST fruitful, a series of orientation activities are organized for you. Have a good start of your fun exchange!
Below are the sessions which you are expected to attend to get essential information about your living at HKUST and in Hong Kong. You should get registered before the start of the term and join the orientation events to make new friends.

Attend our welcome session and obtain important information on visa and registration related matters. All sessions are identical and you should join one of them.

Hong Kong has been well known as its vibrancy and dynamic lifestyle, as well as its rich historical and cultural background. If you are interested in knowing more about this exciting place, come join our Hong Kong Day Tour!

Hong Kong Day Tour (A) - Hong Kong Heritage

Hong Kong, with a rich background of Chinese culture, is much more than just the heart of finance. By joining this tour, you will visit Chi Lin Nunnery, a large Buddhist template complex built in traditional Tang Dynasty style. We will also visit the Hong Kong Palace Museum where you will have the chance to immerse yourself in Chinese art and culture. That’s not all! Enjoy a scenic walk along the waterfront promenade at the West Kowloon Cultural District where it is perfect for capturing sunset views. Last but not least, we will conclude the day with a Chinese dinner and a view of the Symphony of Lights by the harbour.

Hong Kong Day Tour (B) - Taste of A Vibrant City
1 Sep 2024 (Sun)
Explore the vibrant city of Hong Kong on a day tour filled with exciting adventures and stunning views. Begin by riding the peak tram to the Peak for a panoramic view of the harbor and city skyline. Then, we will wander through Central, one of the oldest yet also most dynamic districts in the city. In this district full of small alleys and sloped streets, there’s plenty to discover, from heritage buildings and art institutions to local eats and fun souvenirs. We will also visit Tai Kwun, a complex of 16 heritage buildings formerly the Central Police Station. Last but not least, we will conclude the day with a Chinese dinner and a view of the Symphony of Lights by the harbour.

Enrollment
Students may enroll to Hong Kong Day Tour through MyStudyAbroad System by the enrollment deadline. Enrollment after the deadline may not be accepted.
Enrollment deadline: 13 August 2024 (Tue)
Seats will be allocated randomly if the enrollment exceeds the quota of the activity. Enrollment results and payment details will be announced by email after the enrollment deadline.
*Payment is required to secure your seats to the Hong Kong Day Tour and is non-refundable. We reserve the right to cancel an activity with a refund due to insufficient enrollment.
