I have striven to gain exposure to a variety of foreign cultures whether through online learning or in-person. Throughout these years, I always believe that raising global learning awareness is indispensable in our lives, especially in our generation. With that belief, my journey in Spark Global begins.
Attending a university in a different continent, 8,000 kilometers from my home country, I have understood the values of studying in an environment that is very different from what you have been used to and all the benefits it can give to enrich your life. This is one of the reasons that led me for joining Spark Global, as I want to pass on to others the importance of gaining these global experiences.
I was brought up as a Filipino-Japanese and grown up in these two places. While it nurtures my openness to consider various places as my homes, it also disconnects myself from the cultural identities that I should have. I’m glad to say, however, that studying in HKUST has allowed me to embrace the richness of my background as I have been constantly exposed to people from all parts of the world ever since I stepped into the campus.
I have always enjoyed meeting different people and learning new things from them. Joining Spark Global allows me to work with talented people and I can’t wait to learn from them!
Through Spark Global, I can serve the HKUST community by helping local students, international, and exchange students. As a year 3 student, my sense of belonging to HKUST has never been greater. Although the pandemic has brought challenges to overseas travels, Spark Global will continue to create global university experiences for the HKUST community. See y’all at our coming events!
